Birding

Is BirdBath Protector and Small Fountain Protector safe for my pets or children?
Yes, BirdBath Protector and Small Fountain Protector are completely safe for your pets or children that may drink from the BirdBath or Fountain.

Poultry

Can I spray Poultry Protector directly on my bird?
Yes. Simply pick the bird up by its legs and mist the entire underside of the bird. We recommend doing this three times over a one week period. Parasites will travel on and off the bird frequently. Doing it this way, you will catch most of them. Spraying the entire roosting area is also advised as well as their roaming area.

Is it harmful in any way to add more than the recommended amount of Egg Washer Pro?
It is not at all harmful to overdose.  It is however a waste of product and money.  Suggestion: after washing a few dozen eggs, you may want to add a little more product simply because of build-up of organic contaminants at the bottom of your sink or bucket.

Does Egg Washer Pro create a bad reaction when mixed with liquid dishwashing soap, like Ivory or Cascade? I don't add the soap for the cleaning of the eggs, but sometimes I wash my hands into the same container that the eggs are soaking in with the Egg Washer Pro, and that is why the soap would get in there. When we used to use a bleach egg cleaner, I wasn't able to allow the soap to fall into the same container because of the bad reaction.
There are no harmful effects when mixed with soap or even harsh chemicals.

Everything I read says do not wash a fresh egg as it removes the natural  ”bloom” provided by  the chicken and leaves the egg unprotected for bacteria to enter.   If that is true, and I wash the egg with your product, how do I re-protect the cleaned egg?
Natural bloom: Some call it the outer cuticle. To get a better hatch rate for fertilized eggs, farmers will sand paper the outer shell. In doing so, more oxygen is allowed through the outer shell allowing a much better hatch rate. Remember what end of the chicken the egg came from, eggs will have feces or urine on the shell.
A light washing with our natural enzymes will remove the contaminants from the egg. Enzymes will also protect the egg longer from getting re-contaminated, much longer than chlorine or dish soap. For hatching purposes: Farmers will allow the egg to soak for several minutes. In doing so, enzymes will remove a small amount of the outer cuticle allowing more oxygen to enter the egg while still protecting it from contamination.

Water Gardening

How do I know the total gallons of water in my water feature?
Measure in feet.
Multiply (length) x (width) x (depth).
Multiply result by 7.481
This equals total gallons of water.

How do I maintain my Pond?
A balanced ecosystem needs mechanical or biological filters (where good Indigenous Bacteria is allowed to grow), plants fish and CareFree Enzymes.  Taking out any of these elements will cause the ecosystem to work less effectively - which means the conditions of ponds can deteriorate and form contaminants such as slime, sludge, algae, and cloudy/green water.  In water, CareFree Enzymes are needed to digest excess nutrients. Nutrient matter is produced from dead plants, insects, uneaten fish food and waste from pond creatures.  These nutrients accumulate in water because the water cannot keep up with what it is being fed.  Enzymes break these components into harmless carbon dioxide.  Adding enzymes will naturally do in days what would normally take Mother Nature months or years to accomplish; without the use of chemicals.  All CareFree Enzymes products are uniquely formulated to keep water clear and to prevent organic buildup.

Use the formula above to calculate the total gallons of water in your pond.

What do I use for Pond Start-up?
CareFree Enzymes: Chlorine/Chloramine Destroyer - Nullifier
This will eliminate Chlorine and Chloramines found in city water which may damage the gills of fish.  Use as directed.

CareFree Enzymes: Pond Builder-Starter
It is important that you start your biological filter with good natural bacteria each year.  Use as directed.

The start-up stage can take 4-6 weeks.  Bacteria will not grow at water temperatures under 45 degrees.

Why does my pond turn green?
This condition may be the result of poor bacteria growth in the biological filter.  Use CareFree Enzymes Builder/Starter to restart the biological filter.  Weekly use CareFree Enzymes Pond Protector to feed nutrients into the biological filter. It is important that your pond is balanced: the right size filter, the correct number of fish and plants.

What do I do about string algae?
This condition is the result of having an infected tropical plant introduced into the pond.  Lilies, parrot feather, lotus, water lettuce and azolla plants are common hosts for string algae.  Once introduced into the water, string algae will take over. Hand cultivation will control its growth; most treatments are highly toxic and can cause harm to fish and other plants. CareFree Enzymes Pond Protector will take the food away from string algae and help to stunt the growth.

What are Enzymes? How do they work?
Enzymes are proteins, produced by organisms, and are a very important part of the natural process of consumption. Enzymes act as catalysts, allowing molecules of the food chain (algae, slime, sludge, etc.) to be digested. Enzymes allow this process by breaking apart and opening these molecules. These molecules feed off of dead plants/weeds, water molds, insects, uneaten fish food, waste from pond creatures, and nutrients washed in after storms. Enzymes help to digest the over abundance of these nutrients. Enzymes absorb these unwanted materials and turn them into harmless carbon dioxide. This breakdown process occurs naturally in water, however, by adding enzymes the process is accelerated. Enzyme treatments work more effectively with aeration, by turning water aerobic. Aerobic means that there is oxygen present. Having oxygen present diminishes viruses, fungi, and parasites that affect fish and plants. Aerobic water also eradicates odors.
